Sony Webbie HD and Kodak HD ZX1 Pocket Video Cameras Coming Soon
We all know the cute little Flip Mino HD, the pioneering pocket camcorder with an appealing price point. But Flip isn't the only game in town anymore. We had the chance to
Sony's Webbie HD has been on the market for a while now, but at PMA we had the chance to see the upcoming vertical form with a swivel lens. It has virtually the same feature set as the camcorder version, but has a smaller form factor ideal for pockets and purses. Oh, and at $149, it costs $50 less that the current Webbie HD.
The swivel lens will make tricky angles and self recording easier than ever.It looks different but still records HD video and captures 5 megapixel stills. You can expect to see the vertical, swivel lens Webbie HD in April of this year. Hopefully Sony will have a better name for them by then instead of forcing us to say every time "vertical, swivel lens Webbie HD."
While Sony rolls out their new Webbie, Kodak is putting the final touches on their pocket camcorder. Kodak's Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera (seen at the top of this post) is roughly the size of a tiny cell phone and emphasizes the same on-the-fly video capture philosophy.
We love the veritable rainbow of available colors on the Kodak Zx1 and it is ridiculously easy to use. It takes 720p video at 60fps and uplinks directly to your HDTV. The Kodak Zx1 ships in May and will run $149.
